i have a 1994 ford bronco with a 5.0L engine and the e40 transmission. It has 89,000 miles. My transmission has been acting funny lately. at first it was shifting hard in all gears, and on the highway it was downshifting in and out of overdrive all the time, even at light throttle. Now all of the sudden it is shifting smooth but very early. (at about 2000 rpm) It does this even at full throttle in all gears. and after it shifts it will not downshift at all only when i slow down. throttle has no effect. i am pretty good with cars and do all my own repairs but cant figure this one out. maybe a tps or idle air sensor? the MAF sensor is brand new. PLEASE HELP.
Thank You,
Mark

I have done some research, and i found out that in 94 the bronco had problems with water seeping into the sensor that reports the position of the shift causing shifting problems. there is a kit to fix this but i dont wnt to spend the 100 dollars until i know it is this. Are you familiar with this and do you think it may be the problem.
Thank You

I had a problem with downshifting going steady speed , it wasn't a bronco , it was a ford car ,, but all I was advised to do was un hook the battery for a half an hour , and reconnect . bnever had the problem again!
