Fuel problem

I have a 1988 Bronco, went to change the tires and afterwards it would not start, turns over fine. When key is on, fuel pump keeps running, did the tests and my book said to replace it and I did replace the inline hi pressure pump. The low pressure in tank passed the test. But it is still doing the same thing. It just keeps running without building up pressure. Wondering if is the fuel regulator or the fuel reservoir any help greatly appreciated.

The PCM should shut the fuel pump off after only 1 or 2 seconds if the ignition switch is left in the on (not start) position. Check the igniton switch and lock cylinder. If they are loose and sloppy replace them.

Do a fuel pressure test at the rail. 30 lbs @ idle if memory serves me. If low/no pressure check the fuel lines for kinks/restrictions. Check the fuel filter for flow. Check that the fuel tank is vented properly (remove the gas cap).

If that's good, the next step is the pressure regulator. Any excess fuel supplied by the pump passes through the regulator and is returned to the fuel tank via a return line. Check the vacuum line for fuel.

Good luck and let us know. :)
