The overdrive "Off" light will start blinking from time to time on my Bronco. It does not happen all the time, but pretty consistently. The result is that my transmission shifts hard/abruptly. I know this can't be good for my transmission. Would the problem be in my transmission itself? Could it be a sensor somewhere?

If I stop and shut off the engine and restart it will go away. Sometimes the situation will come back and other times it will stay off. Any ideas???

it sounds like the valve body shift motors are sticking or the valves themselves are. This sends a error code to the trans comp. and it lets you know by flashing the OD light.

The od starts blinking and rpms want to race. I can stop turn off or disconnect neg cable and restart it goes away. Is it the rear end shift sensor or something else. It has blown a fuse before for instrument panel in the past.
