Transmission slipping

My 1989 Ford Bronco is skipping and cutting out at slow speeds during the last couple of days. I figured the skip was caused by the plugs so I replaced them and changed the oil and it seemed to run perfect for the next day, but after that it ran just as bad as before. It tries to die if your going at slow speeds or if the RPM's are low. It died when I pulled up to a stop sign but then started back up fine. When I got home today the transmission slipped once when I was pulling into my road. The transmission fluid seemed to dirty and a quart low.

What I mean to ask is if the idling problem as well as the transmission slipping be the same problem? Or what could be causing this? Thanks!

It sounds like two different issues. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Also, have you checked the idle air control valve (IAC) to see if it is working? The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle.

If the trans fluid is dirty and low, you should service it. If it is exceptionally low, that could cause a slip.

Heres a guide on doing a transmission service

Hi again. I have a 92 Bronco, full size Eddie Bauer edition with the E4OD transmission and have noticed since I got it that when I drive the truck normally, (i.E. Not with the pedal flat on the floor) it shifts really rough, it used to slip, come out of gear and rev up till it finally caught and jumped, but has stopped doing that. The only time that it doesn't is if I'm flooring it and I just want to know if there is an easy fix to start with due to the fact of low to no funds? Or is it going to need a new tranny?

Same thing with my 94 right now! Is the airbag light on? Do the brake lights and rear flashers work? I was told it could be the brake light switch (at the pedal, which I replaced) or the hazzard light switch in the steering column-which I can't do because of the airbag. LMK-I think we're on to something here!

Nope, flashers and lights work fine, no dash lights at all. Just the really rough shifting.
