I have a 93 Bronco, in the past six months it has started hard, I just thought it was a weakening battery. Recently I tried to start it and it sounded strange, a kind of wheezing sound, and a smell of electric burn. The next time i tried to start it, It made the same noise, started, even ran well for a moment, then the lights died, and it sputtered to a halt. The engine stopped but the noise got worse, and it didn't stop when I took the key out, I had to disconnected the battery. Now when I hook the battery up, it makes the noise, I have no idea what it is, please help.

1st step here is to test the ignition switch if it continues to run when the key is out, shouldn't continue to run w/o the key
