I bought a 92 Bronco Eddie Bauer 5.8L. When i bought it i was told the fuel gauge didnt work and that it needed a fuel sending unit. I bought one from Motocraft and while my buddy was replacing it he said that it needed a new fuel pump as well but that it needed the fuel pump with a sensor on it. I have been looking around and i have found fuel pumps ranging from $50-$500 and none of them look the same and they all say it fits OEM replacement blahblah. I have also tried to find a used one but I cant seem to get ppl to follow through. Are the fuel pumps interchangeable, Which one do i need to get and what are my options. Would a f150 fuel pump work or would a 5.0L work. I am lost and no little about auto. mechanics.

There are no universal fuel pumps or alternatives for you vehicle. I would NEVER attempt to use a used fuel pump. Sitting around in a junkyard is about the worst thing that can happen to it short of running it out of fuel. I wouldn't even buy one of those new Chinese made replacements sold at the discount parts stores. Buy a name brand replacement pump or your just going to be in for more problems.

I have been looking around all day and talking with my friend and i think he is just trying to be lazy and wanting me to pay more to make it easy on him? I already have the sending unit. He is saying i have to buy the whole new assembly already together because its the wires on top of the pump that are bad? Am i right when i tell him that i can just buy a new module and hook the sending unit to the new fuel pump module and have the same thing. Cause if i buy the whole assembly im out like 600 but if i just buy the module and connect it to the new sending unit than im only out like 300.Am i making sense please help?

Your going to have to buy that module no matter what. The pump is optional but I wouldn't overlook it. As far as the module goes, you could get a used one as long as it's not rusty but I would put a new pump on the used module.
