Hello. I have a 1992 Ford Bronco 5.8L 4x4. At about 2000 rpm the engine feels like its surging. Plus, for this size motor and with such low original miles, there seems to be a hp problem. Ie: sluggish, alot of gas pedal pressure. I have already replaced spark plugs, fuel filter. I am running 10w 30 castrol gtx. I tried running 20w 50, but it seems to bog the engine down.
What might be causing these issues? Thank you, Adam

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
