Is the switch seized up or just hard to turn? If it is just hard to turn, remove the old switch cylinder and lubricate the switch and cylinder mechanism. It's fairly simple to do: Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Using a small punch, push in the release button that is directly below the switch and pull the key cylinder OUT. You can then lubricate that cylinder (or replace it for under $20 with 2 new keys included) and the switch mechanism inside the column with some good low temp grease. I had a problem with mine not turning in extreme cold.
