im wondering what this is and why it is doing this, when i push my brakes, it is hard to push and there is a steady noise of air leaking out of the brake hydraulic. i was thinking about just adding brake fluid and seeing if that is what it is. In your opinion what should i do?

Sounds more like the brake vacuum booster is no good, or the hose or check valve at the booster is bad, remove the valve and try blowing thru it both way, you should only be able to blow one way, if the valve and hose are good, replace the booster.
