1988 Ford Bronco, 150,000 miles. Key turns all the way past the normal ignition point without activating the starter. Also, it will not come out of Park with the key on. Cannot move the vehicle and the starter does not engage.

It sounds to me the ignition switch is bad. The reason it wont start could be that the switch is not turning the cylinder inside. Temporary help remove the key cylinder use screw driver to start car, also it would turn the cylinder in the column so it could be shifted.

I too am having the same problem, and this is not the first time. I had just replaced my ignition switch and solenoid, both where fine to begin with, and now I have 2 new parts I didnt need. This seems to be a common problem with Broncos in the 80s models of these trucks. If you happen to figure out what this problem is, please hit me up. And I will do the same for you if I figure it out soon. Till then I just hook up a toggle to the solenoid and use that as a means to start, that way I dont have to turn the key on, pop the hood, and arc it. Which cant be good for it to begin with.
