1987 Ford Bronco new starter is sluggish

i replaced starter and battery and the problem went away temporarily. after truck heats up the starter has a hard time turning the motor. the battery is new and if i put a jump to the battery the truck will turn over fine and start with no problem i also found that if i let the truck cool down the truck will start the starter is new

Drop the starter and get it load tested,if ok check and test the starter relay.Do a voltage drop test on the positive and negative battery cable.
