My gear for the reverse just went out on my transmission I was warming up my truck while it was in reverse and the E break was still on, My foot slipped off the clutch and there was a loud bang. My forward gears work fine but the reverse is no longer working and it is making a noise like the gears are striped but I am not sure if that is the case. Any idea on what I can do to fix my car? I really can't go buy a new transmission. And how hard is it to take apart a transmission and replace the gears?

It sounds like something broke inside the trans. That is unusuall because the transmissions are really reliable. Based on your description, something has come apart or you did infact take the teeth off a gear. The only thing you can do is remove it and open it up. And yes, it is an involved job just to get the trans out.
