1973 Ford Bronco V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

I have an old Bronco(1973) that has not been stared for months and I just replaced the carburetor I can spray starter fluid in the carburetor and it runs for a few seconds but then stops. I checked the fuel pump and lines and it is pumping gas. Any ideas?
