1996 Ford Aspire Crank but will not start

I recently changed my car from an automatic to a manual and the car started and work wonderful unti one day all the needles on my dash died. I check it out and it was the fuse so I replaced it and gauges worked again. BUt now the car will crank but wont start. I changed the fuel filter and checked to make sure fuel pump was working by taking the fuel line off the fuel filter and placing it in a bottle and fuel came out. I tried to check the spark but it done seem to have any. The crazy thing is sometimes it start ad most of the time it don't. What else do i need to check?
