Wait hours or next day, it starts, runs awhile, and quits

1987 Ford Aerostar mileage: 101,000. While running, engine just cuts off and won't restart. Wait hours or next day, it starts, runs awhile, and quits again. no spark when it quits I can hear the fuel pump runnig ok when it's running it runs fine

Seems like the ignition control modules would create that kind of problem when heated up. NExt time it happens, pull it off throw it in the freezer for a half hour and throw it back in to see if it then starts. Have seen computer do similiar on other models.
