Sliding door won't open '96 Ford aerostar

what do I do to get the sliding door open on a 96 ford aerostar? t worked fine but jsut stopped opening. it's like the handle goes down and makes the opening sound, but the back end won't kick out. help

if while you pull the handle to open the door you push on the back of the door from the inside does it open or does it seem the latch is still engaged? If the latch is still engaged, I'd say either the latch is broken or the handle has become disconnected to the latch...
