i cant get it to stay started and its hard to get started...

1994 Ford Aerostar Two Wheel Drive

my 1994 ford areostar is acting like its out of gas..it wants to start but it takes a few times to get it started but when its actually started it either dies or slow down and putputts and when i push on the gas it seems like its not getting it fast enough and it either dies or lets me go a block or two b4 it does die...but it will go and drive fine inbetween those dieing or wanting to die times ! what could be the problem?

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs could be the fuel filter or the fuel pump is going south.
