Aerostar is clicking

I have a clicking sound under my hood when I start my 94 aerostar. I TRIED TO JUMP IT AND IT DID NOT HELP I THEN TAPPED ON THE BATTREYAND IT STARTED. The ticking sounds like it is coming from the alternator.

The clicking might be coming from the starter because its not getting enough current. Check your bettery terminals for cleanliness from corrosion or loose ground cable.

I had an identical problem with mine and after much trial and error it turned out I needed a new battery cable from the battery to the starter.
