Transmission problem
1997 Ford Aerostar 6 cyl All Wheel Drive 200000 miles

we have had this van for a very short period of time, everything has been great. But the other morning we went outside to go to work and we had absolutely no reverse, drive nothing. We had absolutely no sign that there was trouble with the transmission. Do they just go bad like that without any warning. I also want to say that we can get it to go into reverse , drive ect. But when you put on the gas to move it just revs and goes no where.

It sounds like the reverse band has broken.
