1995 Ford Aerostar No Brakes

I was driving my car last night and went to use the brakes and had no brakes so I had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. No lights on at all. What is causing this and what do I need to get it fixed?

Have you checked to make sure the is brake fluid? Can you see any leaks?>
