1993 Ford Aerostar troubleshoot

Engine Mechanical problem
1993 Ford Aerostar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

when started it idles high but when put in gear it dies already replaced plugs wires cap and rotar but it is still doing the same thing please help

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Has the check engine light come on?
