Noises problem
1993 Ford Aerostar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When I go to start my van it makes a dry rubbing sound and it takes 3-4 turns before the engine starts. This started yesterday, I was able to get the van home and was able to restart it again tonight and I could smell gas! I believe it's the fuel filter, but I was also told there is a re-set switch and would like to know where it is in my van!

There is an auto shut down (ASD) but it wouldn't have started at all if that was the problem. As far as a rubbing noise, that is odd. The fuel filter wouldn't cause that. Have you checked fuel pump pressure yet?

Let me know.
