1992 Ford Aerostar Only One Gear Works

I have a 1992 Fors Aerostar with a 4.0 motor. I have a problem with the trans mission. All gears except for hill gear 2 dont work. Drive, Over Drive, Revese, and hill gear 1 will not work and there is a low gringing sound when put in gear, but in hill Gear 2 I can drive any were I need to but need to know what is wrong with the other.

Hi there ,

The noise is a concern, i feel that there has been a mechanical failure with in the transmission drive train, i would suggest that you get a transmission specialist to inspect and report for you, the more you drive it the more damage i feel that you will be doing.
