Had a dealer repair my CVT transmission upon complition they noticed a noise in engine upon full inspection they had found a ball bearing had got into the intake and damaged the head and top of the piston. They want to hone out the cylinder there are 3 score marks not to deep but I feel that they need to replace the engine that is just a quick fix.

Ball bearing in engine? Are they addmitting either a production (assembly Plant) problem? Or done by a tech at the dealership? If yes to either of these, I side with you! But if no claim of responsibilty is taken, your warranty is expired? Who is paying? Little more info please! You can always ask for a Ford rep to meet you and discuss it with him.

I was a service manager for Ford. This car has a extended warranty and it was the tech he thinks it might have been stuck on the rag that was put into the intake when they had it apart so nothing would get into it. The whole thing is crazy did you get the picture I sent? The owner of the dealer offered me a engine from a car on the lot that has 40K on the clock. I have to go there in a bit I feel they should replace the engine block I do not think what they want to do will be the answer. I feel it will bite me in the end.

Much as I agree with you, if they damaged the engine it's thier problem, I think if you threaten legal action to get satisfaction, you will, especially if the owner get the summons. As a Ford service manager, you must have seen problems similar to this arise from time to time, Stick to your guns.A summons can work wonders, and a small claim is only 20.00 dollars or so to file!

Thanks for the help I went into the dealer (I worked there last year) and told him he needs to order a engine. He wasn't to happy but said it would be taken care of.

I will keep you updated
