My CVPI recently started flashing the overdrive light and won't stay in one gear. Someone told me that it's a wiring harness that may have worked itself loose which is confusing the system. Is this true?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Anything is possible, but that is unlikely. The overdrive off (O/D OFF) indicator has dual functions. The O/D OFF indicator illuminates when the overdrive is turned off. The O/D OFF indicator also illuminates if a fault is detected in the automatic transmission.

What needs done is to have the computer scanned with a scanner which can read different types of vehicle trouble codes. Do that and let me know what you find. Also, and this may seem a bit crazy, but confirm that grounds from the battery to the body and engine are clean, tight, and not damaged.

Let me know what you find.
