2004 Fiat Punto

I recently "jump started" my fiat against a 1.9 diesel peugeot, my fait started straight away and we removed the leads straight away all correctly. A few hours later my friends peugeot's starter motor burned out rendering her "brocken" the peugeots owner said it was because she had jump started my car from hers and this was the corse for the damage to her car. Is this action responsible for the starter moter burnng out, could doing what we did have coursed the damage to her car? Thank you

I do not believe that this is the case, i think that they should look further into this to find the real cause.
