2001 Fiat Punto electrics

2001 Fiat Punto 4 cyl Automatic

the yellow lamp failure light comes on intermittantly, I have checked all the lamps which are working correctly and whilst the car is on level ground and ticking over the light still comes on and off...could this be a voltage regulator and where is it situated
