My boot won't open automatically and passenger front side door won't lock?
None of the buttons on the dashboard work?
I put a new battery on the key fob and the lights on the car come on when I press a button but nothing happens? It's unresponsive.
Also, whenever I go over a speed cushion, my front passenger wheel makes a noise?
What could that be?
How much will this all cost to fix?
Fiat Grande Punto active 77 2009 1.4.

Hi,

First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have very little information on this model. However, I will try my best to help.

As far as the fob, since the lights turn on, the fob is recognized. Have you checked fuses to see if there are any blown for door locks or what isn't working?

As far as the noise, that can be a few things. Commonly, a broken or bad stabilizer link can cause that kind of noise. Also, a strut plate that is at the top of the assembly, can do that as well.

I attached a pic below from a Fiat 500. It should be similar. I highlighted the strut plate, stabilizer link, and stabilizer bar.

Number 11 in the pic is the link, 10 is the stabilizer bar, and 8 is at the top of the strut where it mounts. Specifically, check the link (number 11) for play or if it is broken.

If that checks good, and the other components appear good, safely lift one front wheel at a time. Place your hands at 6 and 12 o'clock and see if there is play that may indicate a bad ball joint. Also, place your hands at 3 and 9 o'clock to see if there is play in the tie rods.

Pic 2 below shows tie rods. Each side has an inner and an outer. The inner goes into the rubber boot. Pic 3 shows you the locations of the ball joints. There is one on each side.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi, thanks for the kind reply.
I think the fuse has blown.
Will I have to replace the whole fuse or parts of it and how much will it cost?

Thanks.
Adam.

Hi, Adam.

If the fuse is blown, just the fuse needs to be replaced. They are very cheap and easy to replace. Here is a link that explains how to test and replace:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

If you can, take a pic of the fuse you are questioning and upload it for me to see. That way, I will know if it is a standard fuse.

Let me know what you find or if I can help.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Could it be the anti roll bar links and the springs that are broken?

Thanks.
Adam.

Adam,

Are you referring to the trunk not releasing? If so, does it unlatch and not open?

Let me know.

Hi,

The noise could be the stabilizer bar bushing, link, a control arm bushing, or even a strut plate. Have you inspected any of those things to see if there is evidence of damage or if anything is loose? See the pic I attached above.

Hi,

The manufacturer recommends 5W40 which is a full synthetic oil. In an emergency, 5w30 could be used, but I would stick with the 5W40.

I hope that helps.

Take care,

Joe
