1993 Other Fiat Models Noisy & abnormal sound

My car is 1993 Fiat Tempra 1.6S .The timing belt was damaged while the car was running. Upon replacement and starting the engine a noisy knocking sound comes out from the engine which is an abnormal sound. The mechanics did his best to adjust the clearance between camshaft and valves based on his experiances but sound still exist.!! !
What is this sound ?from where it comes? is it harm to run the car? what is the shooting steps?

Hi there,

You should do a compression test to make sure that you have not got a bent valve.
