For the 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L FFV, what are the specified fuel pressure ranges for both key on engine off and key on engine running? I've found different specs from various sources with some not even differentiating between the gasoline-only and flex-fuel models.

Hi:

The pressures seem to be the same as those of a non-FFV. Below, I have attached the specifications you requested. Additionally, here is a link you may find helpful.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I tested the fuel pressure. With the key on and engine off, it took six primes of the fuel pump to reach a pressure of 50 psi. Below is a breakdown of how the pressure rose:

1st Prime ---> 20 psi
2nd Prime ---> 32 psi
3rd Prime ---> 39 psi
4th Prime ---> 44 psi
5th Prime ---> 48 psi
6th Prime ---> 50 psi
7th Prime ---> No Increase

After starting the engine, fuel pressure climbed and held at 55 psi with the engine idling.

Due to an EVAP leak, I'll soon be removing the bed of the truck to replace the fuel filler neck and hoses. The truck starts fine with just one prime of the fuel pump, but since I'll have convenient access with the bed off, would you recommend replacing the fuel pump or would you say there's no need to considering the pressure readings?

I would replace the fuel pump, the first prime is low so the pump looks like it is getting weak.

Thank you. The Motorcraft fuel pump for this truck appears to be discontinued. Any fuel pump brand recommendations you could offer?

One last question. Would you recommend a complete assembly or just a pump/strainer kit? I bought the truck in 2015 and have never replaced the fuel pump. As far as I know, it is the original pump.

The complete assembly is easier but you can go which ever way you would like. As long as you get a name brand pump.
