I'm changing my inner tie rod and I am being asked by parts people if it is male or female at the rack? Does it matter or should it be the exact same as the one already on the car?

Hey CFRAN,

If the parts people are asking there must be a year break where they changed the design.

Easiest way is to remove the old unit and see if the tie rod screws inside the end of the rack (tie rod male into female rack) or if the tie rod screws over the threaded male end of the rack (tie rod female onto male rack threads).

Hope that makes sense.

If you can access where the inner tie rod joins to the rack and upload a picture or remove and upload a picture of the old inner tie rod we can identify for you.

Regards, Joe
