The car randomly feels like it has driven over a patch of ice, in that it feels like it loses and quickly regains traction. This normally happens whilst driving normally not under acceleration.
The car has had a recent service and MOT as well as new tires with no faults or issues being picked up with the suspension.

Well Peugeot is not a US market car, so I do not have access to know for sure, but it sounds like your clutch is probably slipping. Which would mean that it is time for a new one. To be a little more certain, try accelerating hard (i.e. nearly flooring it and releasing the clutch pedal). If it grabs and the engine does not rev freely at all, then the clutch is still okay. Otherwise, if it does rev some and then the clutch grabs, the clutch is slipping.
