Faulty crankshaft and piston bearing

Whenever my engine is running, it makes a rough sound and I also need to top up my engine oil after like 1,000 miles due to oil shortages and minor smoke from the exhaust system. Can the engine be fixed or not? Thanks

Hello,

Without hearing your engine run I am not sure. Typically if you have main bearing failure your engine will freeze up due to the fact that your crankshaft will not spin freely. Connecting rod bearings will generally make a knocking noise lower in the engine. Oil starvation generally will affect the camshaft and camshaft bearing first due to the fact that they furthest away from the oil pan and oil pump.
