My son changed the fuel pump in my car. I have an OBDII Reader on my iPhone to reset the code. When I tried to reset it went off. But, when I turn the car off and then on again, the fault code comes back on. I can't get it to stay off. What do I do? Help!

P0453 code evaporative pressure sensor is higher than normal. This means you could have a purge valve that is stuck open. Did this happen as soon as the work was done? If so, it could be a little piece of dirt from the repair got sucked into the valve and now it is holding it open. Here is the location so you can check it out, if you can blow through it the valve is bad. This guide may help as well:

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find.

Ken L,

My car is a 2004 Ford Taurus SE, engine is OHC 3.0L Flex Fuel VIN: 2. The car runs great but that fault code will not stay cleared. Yes, it happened after he replaced the fuel pump. He has since passed away. So now I have no one but myself to fix it (just to let you know, I'm a 66 year old women on SSDI). I can't afford a mechanic. The pictures you showed me are for a 2003 Taurus DOHC VIN S. I won't be able to get Emissions done on my car until the code is cleared and stays cleared. Any advice or help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks

I am sorry to hear about your son. The images I sent cover all 3.0L engines, which is why there are different versions. I you can take some images of what you see I can help guide you on how to test the valve once you have removed it.

Do the images cover the OHC Flex Fuel VIN 2 engines also? Because when I asked my son what fuel pump to buy, he gave me these specs and told me to make sure that is what I bought. And I did.
