Fan not switching on

When the heat gauge is on the half mark the fan does not switch on. The water than gushes out from the water bottle. There is a direct manual button switch a mechanic placed for the car to remain cool, on the fan to cool the radiator. When the manual fan is on, than no water gushes from the bottle. Please help. Could it be the water pump or any other cooling mechanism I am missing? Please advise.

It sounds like you have a blown head gasket which causes the problem you have described but to be sure lets run down these guides and report back.
