code p048013, fan not turning on?

My coolant fan does not work. I have got code p048013: the output of electric fan 1 has an electrical fault or an open circuit. There is an open circuit.

It sounds like the fan motor has gone out which is where I would start by removing the fan to test it by putting power and ground to the motor. I have included how to remove the fan for replacement in the images below.
