I am trying to replace a failed turbo and having difficulties getting the failed unit out. The screws holding the oil drain tube are completely rusted and cannot be removed. I am thinking about cutting the drain pipe as it is severely corroded anyhow. Is this okay? Also, do I need to remove the flexible exhaust with the turbo?

Anything that is taken out has to be reinstalled and if the condition is bad, you need to have them replaced. Under extreme conditions, as in this case, you would have to decide what and how things should come off. Cutting and grinding off parts are part and parcel of repairs which at times cannot be avoided. Just make sure you have replacement available for all faulty parts.

The flex pipe need not come off if it is not obstructing any process.
