My truck had 2.5 inch exhaust pipe. I gave the mechanic a muffler to install with 2.5 inch exhaust entrance and exit. After the muffler, He put a pipe that tapers from 2.5 inches to 2 inches. Why did he do this? How much will this hurt the sound and power of my truck?

Hello, I'm Danny.

That makes no difference at all. All the exhaust back pressure it created up to the muffler itself. No back pressure after the muffler whatsoever. He might have only had 2' pipe left to finish the job. Will make no change in sound or performance. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
