Your steps to the visit and replacement were great, thanks. A dealer is now replacing the exhaust manifold. I don’t know if there are two. My question is, shouldn’t the 02 sensor have coded with an exhaust leak into the cabin air?

It depends on where the leak is and if it is bad enough to allow air in that registers on the O2. Many times a leak does nothing but create noise.
