Clogged exhaust

will a stopped up exhaust still release exhaust out the the tale pipe?

Hello,

Yes, but it depends on how bad the blockage is. Usually when a exhaust system gets plugged it happens at the catalytic converter. They have "honeycomb" looking materials inside of them that catalyses that exhaust and turns it into molecules that are not harmful to the environment. A chunk of the honeycomb will fall off and this chunk of honeycomb is what plugs the exhaust. I hope that this helps.
