EVAP light

Gas topping overflow apparently overloaded the system and set the light.

My dealer wanted to replace every system part for over $1,500.00.

In their check, they drained gas from system.

The CEL shut off and the gas filling worked great when refueling up to the pump click off.

Car drives great.

Several drive cycles appear that the draining by the dealer's inspection cleared the trouble.

Do you think the EVAP system fixed itself by removal of the excess fuel?

Thanks

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, I think that might have set the check engine light by overfilling the tank. I don't think every part of the EVAP system should be replaced with only having 30,000 miles on the car. That may have just been a fluke.Since the check engine light has been turned off if there is still a problem with the system the light will turn back on within around 50-100 miles of driving. Here is a tutorial showing how the EVAP system works:

Let us know if the check engine light comes back on.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Everything seems okay now.

The examination of the car by the dealer must have cleared any junk in the system.

Will be sure not to ever go beyond the pump click.

Cancelled the repair estimate and saved $1,700.00.

Thanks so much.
