Hello, I have the 5.7 HEMI RWD 300C 2005 I developed lights ESP BAS when I turned right on patchy ice onto freeway ramp. That and no cruise control was only problem for weeks. Yesterday I made left hand turn at light and engine bucked hard once then again multiple times did not stall. I shut if off for a hour and drove home no bucking just sense a brief loss of power on a slight incline half way up and then was fine. Can these lights cause that? I have over half tank of gas and filled it up to full problem happened after that the next day.

Hello,

it sounds like you have two separate problems. The ESP and the BAS lights are for the electronic stability program and the braking assist system. The engine sounds like it is misfiring have you installed new spark plugs lately?

If not here is a guide to help you get the problem fixed.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-change-spark-plugs

I would check for codes as well

Please let us know what you find ;)

Hello--I noticed car runs perfectly smooth at normal cruising and at stops//starts. I put in one can of seafoam yesterday and filled up tank with mid-range gas. It ran fine until I gunned the engine--then and then only does engine lose power and bucks then recovers--it doesnt sound like misfiring. Years ago I ran a car with fuel injectors accidentally out of gas. Afterward it bucked hard while never stalling. They cleaned injectors and I believe replaced a fuel sensor as I recall. I will say that due to financial straights recently I was using regular gas instead of midrange. Book calls for midrange octane. Do you think could cause bucking or should I just get codes checked. Car dont stall just loses power forward when you press hard on accelerator then buck when it recovers as you take foot off gas petal. Thank you so very much for your assistance and reply!

Yes, I would have the codes read and it is starting to sound like a weak fuel pump.

Here is a guide to help you test it.

Please let us know what happens.

Hello I contacted Chrysler to see if they will replace fuel tank assy per X53 bulletin that states car can stall/run rough after fill up due to faulty check Valve. My car started this day after fill up. However, yesterday car starting bucking again and check engine lite started flashing on/off also. I lifted hood and it appears like oil film on right side of engine cover--that was not there before. I am wondering if faulty EGR Valve can be cause of all the bucking, and the oil on engine cover. Is there link to self test this or should I just go to auto parts store for code check? Thank you very much!

I would change out all of the spark plugs and then clear the codes to see what happens.

Hello I want to update you on car. I had car on scanner at two auto parts stores. One showed ign coils and crankshaft positioning sensor and random misfires. I took to another a week later and it showed all ABS sensors to check. Plus Crankshaft positioning sensor again. The check engine light is off. Today I made left and hand turn and car stalled--this never happened before. While car started again when I put it in gear initially it wouldnt shift into drive. I put it back into park then drive again and it moved. Then after 100 ft it stalled again and started up but would not shift when I put it in drive, until I put in park and back into Drive. I am thinking to replace the crankshaft positioning sensor 1st. Can you tell where this sensor is on the 2005 300C 5.7 HEMI? Thank you very much for your reply:)

The Crankshaft Position sensor is located at the right-rear side of the engine cylinder block. Here is a diagram (below).

Please let us know what happens.

I took car to a highly recommended local repair shop--they said their diagnostic equip showed two bad ABS sensors on rear. They replaced them and said the tone ring on left 1/2 axle from broke and axle hub rusted. They said a new axle/with tone ring is 395 installed. And are presently looking for a used axle with good ring. They think all the bucking and stalling will stop with this repair. Ive been waiting for 5 days for them to find a axle used in good condition for my car.

Apparently Chrysler used the 1/2 axle on 2005 model only that year--they changed part in 2006 and can now only get new ring with new axle. I have been told by parts places that the ring cant be purchase separately for 2005. Have you heard of this before? Thank you I will inform you after parts come in and are installed.

Hello! I got car back after replacing 1/2 axle and used tone ring from used parts place. The car burped twice and ran fine after. Apparently a car will do that after some repairs while onboard computer reboots so to speak. It has run fine since repairs and the two burps. Thank you for your assistance very much!

Hello I drove car twice since repairs were done ie two rear ABS sensors and left rear 1/2 axle with ring. The axle and ring were used parts. I drove car down street as listed in above update. Today I had it lunge twice--and later hit the pedal hard and it ran right up in tach and speed without bucking. Later I tried that again with full throttle accel and ran up fine for two seconds-- then bucked hard and check engine came on again. The BAS and ESP lights also came on. After letting it sit off for 20 minutes then BAS and ESP lights went off check engine stayed on and car has driven normal. I notice most of the lunging and bucking is on acceleration from a stop at light. Most but not all. I will take car back to repair shop. I have tuesday a appointment with dealer to do two airbag recall repairs. I am debating whether to put more money in car or try to trade it in as is. It is a 12 yr old car with 75000. I dont want to start replacing alot of expensive parts.
