When I turned on my vehicle, the radio was not playing and showed an error code. What could be causing this? There has also been times when the light and display turn off but music is still playing through the speakers. The radio is unresponsive during that time and just randomly stops and starts working properly again.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Based on your description, I have a feeling that the wiring in the trunk to the rear speakers has been damaged. Check that first. Turn the radio on and wiggle those wires around to see if it starts working. I have found many people store too much in the trunk or do something that causes damage to those connections. That may take care of the not working now issue, but when it turns off and continues playing, that is different. I will need the code, radio model, and if your vehicle has a separate amp for the radio.

Let me know if that takes care of the problem of it not working. Also, if there is a specific error code, let me know what it says.

Joe

Did you check the rear speakers? Also, what I want you to do is remove the fuse for the radio for five minutes. See if that resets.
