Error Code C1296 ABS?

Good morning again,

My truck posted an error code, and I replaced the left front speed sensor. The light went off briefly and then came back on. The ABS, Brake and anti-skid light is on. Braker still works but pedal is harder than it used to be.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1296 in your 2010 Ford F-150 indicates a Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Fault.

So This code can be caused by a bad wheel bearing hub which will cause the reluctor wheel for the ABS sensor to misalign with the sensor causing the code. Here is how to change out the bearing hub which should fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

I ordered the hub assembly and I was looking through the you tube suggetions, a process of elimination I guess and ran across this channel where the guy said you could disconnect each sensor one by one and connect a good sensor and just lay it over the tire to check until the light goes out and tht will determine if it is a sensor or not. Your thoughts. I did it to the front tires and no change. Also does the back tires also have a sensor? Maybe it is the back? Thanks Ken. I appreciate your wealth of information.

Yes, the rear wheel have sensors but the code is for the left front so that is where I would concentrate. The ABS module needs to see equal movement from all wheels before the light will go out FYI.
