Drove car to restaurant, came out car would not start, dash lights worked and did not dim with key turned, battery voltage did not drop. Changed clutch safety switch still would not turn over. Checked fuses and swapped relays still nothing. Depressed the gas pedal turned the key and the engine turned over, released the gas pedal turned the key and the car started normally, and continues to do so.

It sounds like the starter motor has gone bad or you have a bad connection at the battery. It started working because when you hit the throttle it moved the starter a little and it began to work again, but it will fail again. Here are two guides that will show you what to look for and do to fix the problem:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/everything-goes-dead-when-engine-is-cranked

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-a-starter-motor

Please run down these guides and report back.

Cheers, Ken
