engine will not turn over

drove car fine all day, parked at friends house went to leave and just would not start. got a new battery and new starter. turn key lights come on. you can hear the starter engage, hear a clunk watch the engine move, but no turn over. then a puff of smoke from the starter?

Hello,

It sounds like the engine is locked up, remove all of the spark plugs and see if it will turn over. I think you have a blown head gasket and it is filling one cylinder with coolant. Make sure you stand away from thee engine while cranking it over.
