Hello,

I have noticed a leak from the radiator cooler lines. This has happened before, and I think it is due to engine vibration when the car is idling in traffic.

I'm thinking it may need fuel injection service since it has been a few years since this has been done.

What do you think?

Thanks, Roosevelt.

Hello,

If you suspect there is too much vibration, you may want to check the engine mounts. Sometimes this can be done by putting the vehicle in drive while the left foot is on the brake and using the right foot to quickly throttle the engine, you may hear a knocking or feel a big vibration if the mounts are worn out.

About a fuel injection service, it does depend on the type of service. If you are referring to a fuel system cleaning of the valves, the typical mileage interval the general shops give is around every 20,000 miles for modern engines. The parts stores also sell a fuel injection cleaner to put in the gas tank that is also beneficial and is also usually given during a service.

Hope this helps,
William

Hello,

I did the "check" for the engine mounts and did not feel the vibration that you mentioned. I will have the vehicle serviced for a routine oil change and fuel injection service.

I will keep you informed on what happens next.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello, thanks for the update!

That "Check" will make a broken motor mount show itself, however a cracked or torn mount that is still holding the engine may be found by the technician. If they mention this, do ask for pictures. Please let us know how it turns out!

Hello,

The shop replaced the three motor mounts on the vehicle along with the FI service and the car runs as smooth as silk. I am amazed that a 17 year old vehicle is running so smoothly and quietly, almost the way it was when I purchased it new.

The belt tensioner pulley was replaced also along with the belt.

Thanks for your advice on the mounts, it made all the difference.

Roosevelt.
