Car has been overheating for the past few weeks. Whenever it reaches red zone we pull over and wait until it is lower. Today we were pulling a boat and now the engine temperature was constantly hitting the red zone. After about 20 minutes of driving and pulling over the electrical throttle control light now came on as well as the SERV 4WD indicator light is on. Any suggestions on what to do?

First stop driving the vehicle until the overheating issue is solved and definitely don't tow a boat until it is fixed.

Next we need to start checking the things in this guide. Start with checking to see if the fans are coming on when it gets hot. Next we need to remove the thermostat and put it in boiling water to see if it opens.

Once we run through these things let me know what happens and we can go to the next step but the most common causes are fans or thermostat so we need to start with that. Hopefully we don't have any damage at this point that is causing these other issues but I fear it may be.
