Possible engine swap?

I have 2 Chevrolet Malibu's, the 2008 with a blown motor LE5 2.4L motor in it and I have a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu with a L61 2.2L motor in it. Needing to know if it will work in the 2008 Malibu?

The 2008 was a major redesign model of the Malibu so the engines and drivetrains are not interchangeable. The LE5 was based on the earlier L61 family but there were a lot of changes to the internal systems and the electronics are different. Now if you had the 2.2 in the 2008 you could swap the base engine and use the 2008 parts on it.
