I have a 1999 engine, (3.8) and I need engine for 2002 (3.8). What do I need to do to put the 1999 engine into the 2002?

Good morning,

You will need to set the donor motor next to the bad motor. Strip down the donor motor to a long block. That is, remove all external parts such as exhaust manifolds, intake manifold and all sensors.

Then you need to put all the accessories from your bad motor to the donor motor.

It would be a good idea to replace the timing chain since you have it out. It is a lot easier to do now rather than in the van.

Also be sure to look at the notches in the flywheel. Different numbers were used in different years for some engines. If you use the wrong one for the year of the Engine Computer, you'll have a crank/no-start. Just transfer your old flywheel to the new engine.
